Western Tanager
The male sings fequently in our backyard not easy to approach though he waves goodby whenever the camera is pointed in his direction. This reaction causes me to switch into stealth mode : )

The male was around but it was the female I wanted photos of. She has managed to avoid me pretty much every year. They have been returning our yard during the warmer months for years.
