Barred Owl

During an early evening hunt we were very fortunate to catch.

Barred Owl flies through the forest.

I had a few quick opportunities between the trees and bush as I tracked the Owl. I was shooting at ISO 14400 it amazed me the tracking stayed with the Owl. Somedays you get lucky.

On Dec 19 we found a Barred Owl who was very chatty.

Wrong place?

Have you ever felt like the prey was at your feet? I just tippy-toed out of the area for a few minutes and watched from a distance. I was hoping he would get a meal but no luck.

Who cooks for you?

A little phrase that helps one remember what a barred Owl's call sounds like. Of course if you have ever heard it you are unlikely to forget it. He is lowering his right leg after having a good old head scratch.

A Tail and Two Skates

Mouse feet are known as skates or hyperglides, these skates have less friction, movements are smoother which result in better precision, a superior glide and more control. Unfortunately, this mouse's skating days have come to an end sorry folks Mickey didn't make it.

The Owl ate the majority of mice it caught occasionally it fly off with a mouse. Perhaps making a delivery?

The Barred caught three mice on this rainy afternoon either it is a very skilled hunter or there are a lot of mice in the forest. I used ISO 5600, shutter speed 1/1600sec, f/5.6 at 500mm a compromise to keep my shutter speed up.
