Over the river
One of three Great Horned Owlets we discovered last summer.
Great Horned Owlet
Learning to hunt over a small creek with its two other siblings, the parents were near by.
Fuzzbabies Two
It just killed me when the little Owlet in the front leaned in for a closer look, how cute is that? I had to force myself to leave these two alone and let them experience the world around the without me in it....darn.
Great Horned Owlets
You may recognize these two cuties from last spring, I selected a different view this time. Can't wait for this spring although today it looks like it is a long way off, we are having our 1st snowday today.
Fuzz-babies, Great Horned Owlets
One of my all time favourite shoots, we found these little branch monkeys walking a path. They were not alone the parents were near by watching them experience their surroundings. Happy New Year!
Something of interest.
Great Horned Owl
Great Horned Owl at the Nest
Hoping for Owlets in the very near future, finger crossed.
Only a second or two from the nest.
A Great Horned Owl protecting the nest site.
Full Camo
One of the reasons you don't see the Great Horned Owl often or any Owl for that matter is they are naturally camouflaged.
GH Owlet
I got some strange looks from this little guy, first human contact.
Watching the nest I'm expecting Owlets any day.
First Contact
After what seems like forever finally one Great Horned Owlet emerges from a very deep nest. I have been visiting the nest site periodically to check my trailcam hundreds of videos few with Owls in them, the trailcams are not made to face upward or function in direct sunlight, the wind and rain made for tedious editing. knew there was one chick for sure as I could hear it in the videos when a parent would fly in. This is day one outside the nest I am hoping for another chick tomorrow, time will tell.
