Unfortunately, it was feasting on other birds when we found it. I think our cameras were enough distraction to give the remaining birds a chance to escape.
Looking pretty smug as it sat above and peared down at us from a light standard. They only way to save the shot is cut it off above the waist lol.
This hawk has a very white front I managed to get a few shots of it hunting today.

A Red-tailed Hawk screams in to the lunch box, I mean nesting box.
We were taking a break sitting on the ground when a RTH came in low level and landed on a nesting box right in front of us. I almost dropped my camera, what the heck??
Caught it doing a little fluff and puff while it was taking a break from hunting.

It flew close to our feet and poked in the grass, we never did see what it dove on.
We had a terrific close encounter with this hawk today, it had just finished off its lunch, lauched to a nearby bush cleaned its beak and flew right past us again to a nearby poll.
