Northern Flicker

I am still sorting files for my website this is from the spring of 2017. I found so many photos I have never posted on Flickr.

Call 911, the suet feeder is misssing!

Our tree has two hanging seed feeders and a suet cage which at the time was down for cleaning. The Flickers are in the mood for love, this one drums on anything metal (see the damage to the tip of the bill) in the neighbourhood advertising, although I'm not sure why he has a female following him around. We found this Flicker drumming on the dead tree although I don't think he was getting the results he wanted from the soft wood. This is the time of year they like to make noise, a lot of noise :)
