A balancing act while it munched on barnacles and muscles.

If Bears could talk.

Georgina

All ready for sleepy time although I'm sure she will be nibbling on tidal treats and berries for another few weeks.

Something different.

I had the time to try different angles and came up with this. what you can't see is there is a small waterfall in front of the bear.

Where did the fish go?

Big fish and a big bear kick up some water during the chase.

Fishing

The Bear was wandering upstream checking out the more likely spots to catch a salmon.

River fishing.

The bear has a large salmon which was being obscured by the root. I was about to reposition myself to get a clear shot then thought why? I don't think most people want to see a chewed up salmon. Personally I don't want to show it.

Stare Bear

He is chasing salmon, Georgina watching in the background. If he catches a fish Georgina will force him to share it.

Bear Altercation

Georgina on the right isn't happy about sharing her space. She always has that "bring it on" attitude. Taken last fall.

Stare Bear

Born in the winter of 2016, Stare Bear is developing into a healthy and rather handsome boar. Mother Scruffy, father? A reasonable guess would be Longlegs or Romeo, both tall boars. Scruffy's not talking :)

A Close Encounter

This is our old friend Trump, she liked to come right in for a visit.

She's up early chasing salmon.

She is an adventurous 3-year-old who deserves a superhero's name.

Dresses to kill (fish)

It was easy to spot this bear wearing a tuxedo.

Victory Bear

I named it Victory as it has a V-shaped white patch. It did catch a few fish so turns out there are small victories on a river covered in people.

Across the River

My 500mm lens was a bit overkill for this river.,This bear only made short appearances too freaked out about all the yelling the guys fishing were making.

Worried

Peeking around the corner of a river bank covered with people fishing. Why fishing is allowed up river while the salmon are pawning is a mystery to me. We watch the lures being drag across the water foul hooking the fish, there should be a law, oh wait there is!

Boo

Grumpy foraging amoung the rocks hoping for a meal.

A Portrait of Grumpy Bear

He is actually very mild mannered and a bit curious, I named him Grumpy because of his stern looks. We were laying on the ground attempting low level photographywhen a shorebird dropped in. Grumpy came over to see what the heck we were doing then sat watched us then laid down and eventually fell asleep ...pretty boring stuff for a big bear.

Siesta

The Bear, formerly known as Scruffy, has an afternoon nap. I don't feel I can call her Scruffy now as she looks so good this year.

Scruffy is looking healthier than I have ever seen her. She hasn't had any cubs since 2018. By not sharing her food she as blossomed into a beautiful senior bear.
