Smoke, Smokey and a Bear
Take away what you want from this photo. This area was evacuated shortly after we drove through.
Two Mayflies and a Black Bear
Black Bear and a Mayfly
I used my 600mm lens with the 1.4x that extends my reach to 850mm. This bear walked towards me, with no aggression or fear, she got a good look, picked up my scent and was satisfied to continue with her morning.
Black Bear
The most enjoyable Canada Day we have had. We started just before 6am, by 7:45 we had photographed 5 bears.
Cinnamon Black Bear and Cub
The only thing better than finding a Cinnamon Bear is a Cinnamon Bear with a Cinnamon Cub.
Cinnamon Black Bear
A colour phase that is common in Northern BC. I really like the rich brown tones. We found this bear with a cub during our drive south from Whitehorse.
Cinnamon Baby
I love those curious moments.
Early morning was normally good for wildlife.
This colour variant was on my wish list for some time. We found 9 bears, one fox, a ton of bison, 2 ground squirrels and a mouse today.
Get that foot away from me!
Scratching with attitude.
New Bear?
I'm not sure if this is a new bear or one that I haven't seen in 4-5 years. It takes me some time to ID from my files.. The bear stood in front of me at close range with the salmon for longer than I would have expected. Not cropped.
Dressed for success.
We found this little guy with Mom on the way back to camp. It was taken well after sunset using very high ISO. Look at that perfect tie. What a cutie!
Taking a moment.
He came from the forest, noticed us, sat down then watched us watch him.
Healthy Black Bear
Our new location is working well for us. This morning we had a brief encounter with this big fellow.
Wet Bear
On the move.
Interesting colours.
There is light coloured fur speckled on this bear's head. I'm not sure if it is lack of melanin or grey.
Forest treasures.
I was thrilled to find bears by a forest stream. This setting is a downed old-growth tree and stump; it dwarfs the bear.
Fuzzy Bear
Every Black Bear is unique both in looks and character. This bear has a curl to its gorgeous thick fur.
Portrait of a Black Bear
A cropped close up of the new bear I am calling Patches.
Solo
Hey you're new here. Once the bear realized we were there he leaned in for a closer look.
I was setting up my trail cam to see if there are any bears at this location. It turns out yes, there is :) Taken with my camera.
