I'm sure with the multiple tail slaps and breaches this Humpback got it point across, the other whale departed.

Another Humpback in the area was ticking this big guy off. The whale came up for air and made a loud squealing noise before it slammed down.

Trap-feeding

A Humpback Whale cleans up on the bait fish. The idea is to find the bait balls before the Humpys to catch the Eagle show. Once the whales arrive that ends the Eagle activity sort of a win-win for us if we arrive before the whales..

Whale of a Tale

We saw what looked to be a large barrel floating in the sound we slowly approached only to discover a Humpback Calf, oops we need to get away from it fast. Mother Whale shows up out of nowhere and gave us a breech then a few close encounters. That was an experience we could have done without. Next time when curiousity strikes we will find the bionoculars. We had no idea whales were in the sound and found out later since the mill was closed in Port Alice the water is recovering from the pollution, the whales are returning.
