  • The end of the lake.

    The end of the lake.

I like crusing the backroads for little gems like this. It can be very peaceful and calming on weekends when the logging trucks are parked not sneaking around corners and jumping out at us, we have had the odd wake up. This day I was by myself other than the noises coming from the forest there was not a soul around.

    The middle of the road.

The black spot left of the bridge is me wearing my very stylish black bug suit. I need to concentrate on flying, not swat at mosquitos, horse/deer flies or black flies, sometimes simultaneously with a few gnats. The marshes are heaven for bugs and, of course, birds.

  • Grumpy Bear

    Grumpy Bear

This bear looks ticked off all the time. It must be his penetrating eyes that he loves to lock in with. I would lose in a staring contest.

  • Power bath.

    Power bath.

This must be a juvenile Greater Yellowlegs. its approach to bathing was original. The results were terrific, one clean bird after multiplue attemps..

    Between two lakes.

I was quite please to find and photograph this large wetland area.

  • Double Down Falls

    Double Down Falls

It looks like an easy fly from this vantage however I was not feeling brave enough to fly down this morning, too much turbulent air. Next time.

  • A Big Mama

    A Big Mama

She had two cubs that were well hidden as she turned rocks foraging for intertidal food.

  • An old friend.

    An old friend.

It took me a few minutes to recognize her. She looks better than she has in years.

  • Humpback tail

    Humpback tail

I'm not sure if this was a wholehearted dive. It started nicely with the back arched but then fizzled into a crooked entry.

  • Mother Humpback and Calf

    Mother Humpback and Calf

Mother Humpback is going into a dive with her calf alongside. We rarely see the calves fluke.

  • Fireweed

A previously burned area now covered in new growth of small trees and fireweed.

    A bridge at the 90.

On occasion we see black bears bathing in this creek but not this evening. We did see one on the road which I captured with my DLSR. I do not fly my drone near wildlife it is strickly for landscapes.

  • Rugged West Coast

    Rugged West Coast

The mountain behind reached about two thousand feet. The cave on the left was home to many Commorants. We watch a least a dozen fly in or out. A fun day out with my friends Anthony and Donna.

  • Shaking it off.

    Shaking it off.

We found him rubbing his head and belly, which looked like a bath routing that also helped rub body oils into his fur. Then rinse, one final big shake and repeat.
