Bear Heaven

This is one of 5 big guys we found during our adventures yesterday, we hit the Mother load when it comes to Black Bears. Our regular spot isn't producing much hours and hours of wait time so we went four wheeling for 12 hours and lucked in. Not totally lucky as we had to get towed out of a mud hole. Lots more bears coming soon check back to meet Curly, Moe, Joe and Boris :))

Curly

If you look to his rear you'll see his fur has a curl to it, perhaps that is from his massive weight. biggest Bear out there.

Black Bear Wrestling

It appeared a little rough at times but they seemed to be having fun. Light was coming from behind a difficult shoot.

Big Fellow

A rather healthy sized bear is very different from the beach bears I have been photographing for years. This big guy and his friends/relatives seem to get along very well they wrestle and play together more often than the beach bears.

When the fog lifts.

Known as "Fogust" the west coast sees a lot of fog this month. When it clears you never know what you could be standing next to, glad it was this Eagle.

Belted Kingfisher

I was out for a walk this evening when I found this juvenile staking out its territory or at least trying to other juvs were attempting to infringe on its space. Lucky for me they were paying attention to each other and not me :))

This seems to be the best time of year to catch the Kingfishers.

Best time to approach them is when they are very young more curious than frightened.

I do find the best time to approach Kingfishers is when they are young another week or two I will not be able to get anywhere near one.

Oops

An incredible experience watching an Eagle hunt fish, she had it but it slipped out of her grip a bit heavier than anticipated.

Life is good.

Not sure if that is the Sea Otters take on life but to look at him scratch his head I'm going to guess yes. It doesn't appear he will ever need a Dentist look at those white teeth.

Chilling

He was enjoying a very thorough head rub which started on his face, priceless to watch.

Sea Otter

I spent the day on the water today with my friend Anthony, our guide George and these cute furry fellows. It was a great day!

Mom and Baby

Some of the babies were almost as large as their Mothers. The kits will stay with their Mothers for up to one year.

Baby's Sleeping

Curled up on Mom's belly the young will nurse for at least 6 months eventually graduating to solid foods.

Mom and junior relax at low tide. We saw a dozen or so Seals during our Sea Otter adventure.
