Who's down there?
A Cheastnut-backed Chickadee as something to say to another bird, I believe it was a Fox Sparrow below.
Anna's hummingbird , male
Repositioning on the perch, this one was a fairly cooperative I may have got a few seconds with him.
A few shots of him coming in to perch.
I was quite happy to find this new Anna's spot the area is full of males. The only down side is when they finally perch another male takes a run at the perched male and off they go.
Red-winged Blackbird
I was pleased with how this image came out, lots of background seperation.
Mallard, female
I really like the females Mallards, sweet ducks.
Beaver Kits
We watch 3 Beavers today enjoying an afternoon without rain, they either napped or repositioned for a better nap.
The birds were happy yesterday you could tell by all the songs and activity, a beautiful sunny day.
The kit in the middle seems to be getting too much love. I never knew the Beavers snuggled up.
Beavers
Yeah they woke up! Then had a quick look around and back to sleep. I did not know Beavers liked to sleep so much, really lovely animals though, very cuddly with each other.
Rainforest Eagle
Rainforest Eagle 2
On approach
I'm hoping the Eagles will be around on a brighter day, I need to catch themin better light.
Northern Pygmy Owl
My first Pygmy find of 2021! This is the smallest Pygmy I have ever seen about half the size of a normal Pygmy. It wasn't a magical photo op but it was a wonderful part of our day.
The Log Jam
When I think of a log jam I think of many logs piled up over time, this is one big log that looks like it has been there a long time. I doubt if we have any trees that big that haven't been cut down.
Red Fox Kit with Wildflowers
From the spring of 2018 my first visit with the Foxes. The kit is approximately 7-8 weeks old.
Lounging in a tree.
There were so many huge Bears around this area a 250 lb Bear was feeling safer in a tree out of harms way.
Bear path.
Trumpeter Swan
The lone Trumpeter has made its home at Esquimalt Lagoon just outside of Victoria, BC. It used to hang out with the Mute Swans until the locals decided to play God and destroy every one of them, they must be so proud of themselves after all the years (since 1870) the Mute Swans have been on Southern Vancouver Island that is their solution?. I personally have issues with people that kill wildlife for any reason.
Northern Pintail, drake
He caught me in the weeds but didn't panic just floated by.
