Two White-faced Ibis and a not paticularly happy Snowy Egret

The Snowy Egret was busy picking edibles from the sandy river bottom when two White-faced Ibis moved in. The Egret watched in amazement as the Ibis polished off its dinner.

So when building up to eleven nests a year lined with feathers you need a good supply of said feathers. Location, location it is best to build these nests close to a Egret Rookery. Then a quick visist to the Rookery to sort thru the feather sizes and there you have it a comfly new home every month with a luxurious interiior of soft, fresh down. If you are a smart Verdin you will build your nest in a yellow flowering bush so you are less likely to be spotted by a predator.

Just finished a fish breakfast.

The Osprey was far enough over the river it was not concerned about me so we had a good look at each other for a few minutes.
