    The Bobolink

This blackbird was at the top of my list for life birds, I was prepared to wait hours the second day it landed very close, made my day and the trip :) From what I understand the Bobolink is not that common in British Columbia now. Long-distance migrant. Bobolinks travel about 12,500 miles round-trip every year, in one of the longest migrations of any songbird in the New World. From their northern breeding grounds, they fly in groups through Florida and across the Gulf of Mexico toward their wintering grounds in South America. info from Cornell

Funny how the Hummingbirds seem to show up for any activity, we were taking photos of a Lazuli Bunting and a Canyon Wren the Calliope droped in to see what's up. Yes another life bird for me :)

    Red-necked Grebe

The Grebe's nest was located approximately 100 ft across the water from the Loon's nest. I was completely amaze both species were so calm for photo session most of the photos I took were of them preening.

    Meet V56 a Burrowing Owl

A very accommodating life bird for me, we discovered it perched along the roadside about 10 minutes prior to our destination where we planned to start the search. We were moving fairly quickly on a gravel road and I can tell you the brakes were hit hard...omg there it is! I almost dropped my camera I was so excited. V56 was hunting in the long grasses lucky for us it stayed visible.

One more of V56 before I move on to other species. I have reported the tags to USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Bird Banding Laboratory they have forwarded the tag info on to the bird bander for more specific information on this little character. I will post it when I hear back from them.
