    Great Grey Owl in flight.

This photo was taken under the forest canopy on a dark overcast day. I would have to say the only camera I have ever owned that could capture this is Nikon's D5. It consistently outperforms any camera I have ever used. Not a perfect shot by any means; however, it is way better than I could have expected with previous cameras.

  • New Bear?

    New Bear?

I'm not sure if this is a new bear or one that I haven't seen in 4-5 years. It takes me some time to ID from my files.. The bear stood in front of me at close range with the salmon for longer than I would have expected. Not cropped.

  • Alpha Female

    Alpha Female

We watched her check the area. When she caught fish, she carried it into the forest where her pups were. We were camouflaged and hidden, laying mud behind the bush, the wolves spotted us immediately. You cannot hide from a wolf.

  • Coastal Wolf

    Coastal Wolf

We watched a scout catch fish and then carried the fish into the forest feeding the pack.

    Three of the Pack

What could be better at sunrise than photographing a pack of Wolves? My first pack was an incredible experience! The Alpha male and female, four pups and two or three scouts. It was a lot to take in during our brief encounter.

The sun rose to burst between the clouds just as we reached the Wolves—what a perfect start to an incredible day.

After years of searching, a dream came true.

    Coastal Sea Wolves at dawn.

The light was still low as we ran, dodging obstacles with packs and camera gear. I'm still amazed the wolves stayed when we caught up to them; they could have run. I am so thankful we had this opportunity.
