We were on the water before sunrise this morning, focused on finding whales. We found so much more. These are two of the 4 Grizzly (Coastal Brown Bears) we photographed at low tide. Lots more photos to post. Out finding Black Bears early tomorrow.

  • Cold?

    Cold?

The Bear on the right looks as if it isn't excited about taking the water route. Mom took the high rock route instead.

    A special day.

When we set off to find whales, who knew we would spend the day viewing four Grizzlies—an awesome day compliments of my very good friend Anthony.

  • Worried

    Worried

Peeking around the corner of a riverbank covered with people fishing. Why fishing is allowed upriver while the salmon are pawning is a mystery to me. We watch the lures being drag across the water, foul hooking the fish. There should be a law. Oh wait, there is!

  • Across the River

    Across the River

My 500mm lens was a bit overkill for this river. This bear only made short appearances, too freaked out about all the yelling the guys fishing were making.

  • Victory Bear

    Victory Bear

I named it Victory as it has a V-shaped white patch. It did catch a few fish, so it turns out there are small victories on a river covered in people.

We were out looking for Bears and found a heard of Elk, this big fellow was in charge.

    Tucked in.

We almost missed this full-bodied fellow, he was trying to be inconspicouous.

Sporting the latest in natural tree wear. He was keeping his distance from the bull who was about to run him off.

    Close encounter.

We had a visit from a beautiful bear while on the beach today. She had a quick look then was off to do whatever bears do.

Another Elk herd find tonight, the bull climbed a mound and stood facing us, very cool!

    Bull Elk

A very tolerant bull he kept an eye on us but not all that concerned. The females that were with him acted similar they all continued to graze.

    Winding down the mountain.

This is a small section of a very long waterfall I'm guessing 2000ft from top to bottom.

    The big Yin/Yan rock.

High centre there is a rock that remined me of the Yin/Yan symbol. Very cool what you can discover from the air.
